Christmas Jingle Paper Tree

Christmas Jingle Paper Tree

This paper tree will be a beautiful decoration in your home during this holiday season.  It also makes a wonderful gift!

Supplies:
  • Berry Christmas stamp set (Holiday Mini catalog)
  • Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' Kit
  • Very Vanilla card stock
  • Bone Folder
  • Classic Stampin' Pad: Old Olive
  • Paper Snips
  • SNAIL adhesive
  • A box of pins (check your sewing supplies!)
  • 4" diameter x 9" height Styrofoam Cone (from your local craft store)
Directions for Tree:
  • Cut an entire sheet of 12"x12" double sided paper from the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' Kit into 4"x1" strips.
  • Curl up the ends of each strip using your bone folder.  (Note: When I curled my papers, I alternated which pattern faced up on each row.  This is optional.)
  • Pin the curled strips starting at the bottom of the tree. Do the entire bottom row.  You are working your way from the bottom to the top.
  • Keep adding rows until you are halfway up the cone.  You may need to cut a few extra strips of 4"x1" paper to get your desired fullness.  I used 41 of the 4"x1" strips.
  • When you are halfway up the cone, switch to 3"x3/4" strips of paper and continue pinning strips until you reach the top of the tree.  I used 18 of the 3"x3/4" strips.

 Directions for Tree Topper:
  • Stamp 4 snowflake images from the "Berry Christmas" stamp set using Old Olive ink on Very Vanilla card stock.
  • Using your bone folder, draw score lines down the center of each snowflake.
  • Use paper snips to cut out all four snowflakes.
  • Fold snowflakes in half and adhere the four snowflakes together using SNAIL.
  • Gently stick the bottom tip of the combined snowflake into to the top of the Styrofoam tree.  You may want to use a bit of glue to make it more secure, but I didn't do that for my tree. It also occurred to me after I was done with this project that I could have adhered the snowflakes onto a pin, instead of sticking the card stock directly into the tree top. Oh well, there's always next time!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!  This project was inspired by another paper tree that I saw at my local craft store this week.
