Tuesday Night Card Class: November 30, 2010

For this first card, I wanted to create a design that can be completed in about 5 to 10 minutes (depending on your stamping speed).  The embossing makes it look like you spent forever creating it ... but that's the secret behind using the Big Shot!   I used Baja Breeze, Garden Green, and Real Red as my color combination.

This card features the popular Dasher reindeer stamp (116816, $8.95).  I used the Emboss Resist technique to make the image pop!  This card takes a little more time than the first design, but don't you just love how the pattern of the paper shows through Dasher's body?

Directions:

  1. Use Embossing Buddy on Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper (DSP) to remove static.
  2. Stamp Dasher onto DSP using Versamark ink pad.
  3. Heat emboss using Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool.
  4. Sponge Early Espresso ink all over the DSP.  The clear embossing powder will resist the ink, allowing the printed pattern on the paper to show through.
  5. Use a tissue to wipe off any excess ink from your paper.
  6. Optional: Crumple up the DSP to give a "distressed" look.

The third card we will be making features the Simply Said stamp set.  This set can be purchased separately or as part of a discounted product bundle that is available through our Online Spectacular promotion.  Hurry - this promotion ends on November 30!

Simply Said Bundle (Item number 124242)

Regular Price: $37.45

Tuesday Night Card Class: November 23, 2010

Let me know if you want to sign up for Tuesday's card class!  There are still a few spots left.  See the bottom of this post for class details.

***********************************

Card #1 features the Birthday Bakery stamp set and some simple sponging with crumb cake ink.  Birthday Bakery is one of our exclusive hostess sets, so it cannot be purchased.  You can get this set for free if you host a Stampin' Up! workshop (minimum $150)!

There are a few other options for getting the hostess benefits.  You can get hostess benefits if you place a single order of $150 or more.  Another option is to group orders with your friends so that they total at least $150 - - ask me about how you can do this!

A final option is to join Stamp Club, which will start in January 2011 and will meet once a month through June 2011.  We will need 6 people signed up for stamp club to begin.  Each club member commits to spending $25 per month (before sales tax and shipping) for six months and will receive the hostess benefits during one of those six months.  Click here to learn more about Stamp Club and contact me if you're interested in joining!

Stamps: Birthday Bakery (Level 1 Hostess)
Ink: Basic Black, Crumb Cake
Markers: Riding Hood Red, Crumb Cake
Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso
Big Shot: Polka Dot Embossing Folder
Accessories: Stampin' Sponges, 1-1/4" Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Small Tag Punch, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Sticky Strip

***********************************

Card #2 also uses a Level 1 Hostess set called Because I Care.  I applied Champagne Shimmer Paint directly onto the Hydrangea rubber stamp using a Sponge Dauber.   This is a new product that we have not used in card class before.  The shimmer paint really sparkles but I couldn't get it to show up well on a photo.

This is a Gate Fold card.  Cut your Basic Black card stock to 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and score at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8" on the long side.

Stamps: Because I Care (Level 1 Hostess)
Ink: Bravo Burgundy
Card Stock: Basic Black, Brushed Gold, Bravo Burgundy, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Champagne Shimmer Paint, Sponge Daubers, 1-3/4" X 7/8" Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

***********************************

Card #3 features A Cute Christmas stamp set and the Northern Flurry embossing folder from the Holiday Mini catalog.   I was inspired by a card that my upline Sally gave me a few years ago.  I remember she layered some punched circles and used a snowman as a focal point.

Of course, back in those days, we didn't have a Big Shot Machine or Rich Razzleberry ink.  I'm not even sure we had Bashful Blue back then.  How on earth did we survive?

Stamps: A Cute Christmas (Holiday Mini)
Ink: Basic Gray, Bashful Blue, Rich Razzleberry
Card Stock: Bashful Blue, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
Big Shot: Northern Flurry Embossing Folder (Holiday Mini)
Accessories: Blender Pen, 5/8" Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain Ribbon, 1" and 1-3/8" Circle Punches, 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch

Some things I have been working on ...

I have been working very hard on a large custom order (200 invitations) and I finally finished the last one this afternoon!  Here is a peek at what they look like.  This box contains my last batch of 60 invitations.

I also did an in-home workshop with Audrey and her friends on Wednesday night!  I demonstrated a 6x6 scrapbook page and then everyone got to make and take home this quick-and-easy Christmas card featuring products from our current Holiday Bundles promotion.

I'll start designing the cards for Tuesday's card class tonight, so check back tomorrow for those.  Or if you want to automatically be notified whenever I post something new on my blog, take a look on the right hand side of this page.  Scroll until you see the box where it says "Subscribe to Blog Updates."  If you enter in your e-mail address and click on the gray 'Subscribe' button, my blog posts will be delivered to your Inbox.

***CONTEST!***
If you have a Facebook account or a personal blog, Stampin' Up! is holding a contest where you can win a copy of the My Digital Studio software, which retails for $79.95!  Click here to find out more!  Be sure to let me know if you win!

What kind of demonstrator will you be?
  • Discount Demonstrator:
You like the idea of buying stamps and supplies for your personal use at a 20 percent discount and occasionally selling to neighbors, relatives, friends, etc.
  • Seasonal Demonstrator:
You work hard for a short period of time or season to earn a specific amount of money or to achieve a specific goal, and then you maintain minimum orders and sales during the balance of the year.
  • Hobby Demonstrator:
You love doing workshops and earning extra money when it is convenient. You work a lot some months and very little other months. You will do workshops if they are easy to book, and maybe have a regular group that meets together once a month. You enjoy the rewards that being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator brings, but you don’t plan to make Stampin’ Up! a career.
  • Career Demonstrator:
You view Stampin’ Up! as a viable business with long-term career potential. You pursue a management role, and you want to continue moving up with your Stampin’ Up! career. You love attending Stampin’ Up! events and have close relationships with other demonstrators. You work at your business in a consistent and ongoing manner.

Nov 9 Card Class Photos

Hi everyone!  Here are the photos for our weekly Tuesday night class on November 9, 2010.  Contact me to sign up!

You've Got a Friend in Me Card

I love the sentiment "you've got a friend in me"  because it reminds me of the theme song from the Toy Story movies!  Speaking of which, Toy Story 3 was just released on DVD last week.  I hope to rent it soon!   I love the new character, Lotso.

Stamps: Aviary, Cheep Talk
Ink: Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry
Markers: Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie

Top Note Penguin Card (2010 Version)

The Top Note Penguin card is probably the most popular project I have ever posted on my blog.  I made some slight modifications to the design this year ... now instead of gluing him to a card base, he stands on his own two feet!

  • Top Note Bigz Die
  • Big Shot Die-Cut Machine
  • Corner Rounder Punch (the version I used on this card is discontinued ... we have a different corner rounder punch in the current catalog, but the rounded edges are smaller.)
  • Basic Black card stock
  • Whisper White card stock

  • Curly Label Punch
  • Pumpkin Pie card stock
Arms and Beak:
  • 1-3/4"x7/8" Oval Punch
