Tuesday Night Card Class: Dec 28 and Jan 4

Hi stampers!  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend!  Here are the photos for the next two card classes.  Please refer to the bottom of this post for class details and call or e-mail me to sign up.  Or sign up online at http://www.meetup.com/StampingHut

December 28, 2010 Card Class Photos

1.) So Many Thanks
This time of year, we all need Thank You cards to send to those who sent us holiday gifts!  This gate fold card was created using a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Baja Breeze card stock.  Score the long side at 2" and 7-1/2".

2.) Baby Wipe Swipe / Embossed Vellum Card Stock
This card features a couple of different techniques!  First, we'll be using re-inkers and a baby wipe on Glossy card stock to make striped backgrounds.  Then we'll be using the Sizzix Big Shot and the Square Lattice folder to emboss Vellum card stock!

The "With Sympathy" sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  If you don't want to make a sympathy card, I will have other sentiments for you to choose from.  The large floral image from the Upsy Daisy stamp set is suitable for all occasions.

3.) Vintage Valentine
This is my favorite of the three cards we are making because it is clean and simple!  This card features the Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini catalog.  Isn't it great that you can use this paper for other occasions besides Christmas?  Be sure to order a package or two of this lovely paper before the sales period ends on January 3, 2011!

Some simple sponging with Early Espresso ink adds to the vintage look to this card.  The sentiment is from the Word Play stamp set in the Idea Book and Catalog.

January 4, 2011 Card Class Photos

1.) Create a Cupcake
This stamp set and coordinating Build A Cupcake punch are must-haves from the Occasions Mini catalog!  These new products will be available to order on January 4.

 2.) Button, Button
This card features the Button, Button stamp set from the Occasions Mini and can be ordered starting on January 4.   There are 17 stamps in this set and many coordinate beautifully with our circle punches.  The "Thanks a Million" sentiment is from the Word Play stamp set from the current Idea Book & Catalog.

3.) Chocolate
I used a tiny bit of aluminum foil on the chocolate bar! The small heart punch is great for creating quick and easy accent pieces.

Tuesday Night Card Class: December 21, 2010

The next card class will be held on Tuesday, December 21 at 7:00 PM.  Class details are at the bottom of this post!  Contact me if you would like to sign up.

I have to confess - I didn't design the first card.  It's the sample from the Filled With Love Promotion flyer.  But I really, really liked this card and couldn't think of a single thing I'd want to change!

I figured we're all going to need lots of thank you notes to express our gratitude for the gifts that we receive from friends and family.  So the second card we're making is a winter-themed thank you card.

This card is easy to make yet there are a lot of fun little details thrown into the design.  I added some White Vellum Card Stock and Silver Tinsel to dress it up.  You'll also notice that I punched a hole in the center of every scallop at the bottom of the card - - you can use the Paper Piercer or the 1/16" circle punch to do that.

Vellum card stock can be difficult to tear by hand because of its thickness.  Use the Tearing Edge tool to get a perfectly torn edge every time!

Note: The Candy Cane Designer Series Paper is sold out and we will not be getting anymore.  It was a very popular paper pack!

The third and final card is a Buckle Card.  Use the Word Window punch to create a slot and then insert a strip of Real Red card stock for a quick and cute "buckle" closure!

Do you like the way I layered the two Decorative Label punch outs on this card?

Occasions Mini Sneak Preview

One of the perks of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is the ability to preorder new stamps and accessories one month before they are made available to the general public!  Products from the Occasions Mini Catalog will be available to order on January 4, 2011.  Pick up your free copy of the catalog at a Tuesday Night Card Class or contact me to schedule a time to pick up.

Today I am giving you a sneak preview of some of the fabulous new products that are coming soon!  I made 12 each of 2 different designs, for a total of 24 cards.  These cards are for a demonstrator card swap that I signed up for so I can collect a variety of card samples to show you.  We will also make these two cards at the card class on January 4, 2011.  (I'm trying to get ahead now so I can relax and enjoy the holidays.)  You can reserve your seat now for that class, if you'd like!

The first card features the Button, Button stamp set from the Occasions Mini and can be ordered on January 4.   There are 17 stamps in this set and many coordinate beautifully with our circle punches.  The "Thanks a Million" sentiment is from the Word Play stamp set from the current Idea Book & Catalog.

I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and experiment with brighter, bolder colors.  The color combination I used on this card is: Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango, Pretty in Pink, and Whisper White.

The second card features the Create a Cupcake stamp set and coordinating Build A Cupcake punch from the Occasions Mini!  These two products can be ordered on January 4.  The pattered paper is from the Play Date Designer Series Paper collection from the current Idea Book & Catalog.

After playing with such bright colors on the first card, I switched back to a more neutral palette of Naturals Ivory, Old Olive, Early Espresso, and So Saffron.  The 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch is currently unavailable to order, but I am hoping it will be back in stock by the time we have our card class in January.

That's all for now!  I will post the cards for the December 21 and December 28 card classes later!

Custom Gift Card Holders

I just sold my remaining stock of the Christmas gift card purses to Eye Care for You Optometry in La Habra, California.

If you would like to order gift card holders ($3), please order them by Friday so I can finish making them over the weekend.  Orders will be filled in the order in which they are received and the paper patterns are limited to whatever I have left in stock.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Tuesday Night Card Class: December 14, 2010 at 7:00 PM

Season's Greetings!  Here is the second card for Tuesday night's card class on December 14, 2010 at 7:00 PM!  (Did you miss my earlier post on the first card?  Be sure to check out the Top Note Snowman because we'll be making that card, too!)

This card features the Peaceful Season Level 2 hostess set, Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper, and Silver Tinsel trim from the Holiday Mini catalog. The Holiday Mini sales period will end on January 3rd, so if there are any items you would like to order from that catalog, be sure to do that soon!

I used a couple of different Big Shot die cuts - - specifically, the Two Tags die and the Top Note die.  I trimmed the Top Note a bit with my Paper Snips so that the tag would layer nicely.

I really love the antique brads and I will have an assortment for you to choose from at the class!  Here is what they look like:

The third card we'll be making features the Two Step Owl Punch. One of my downlines asked if I could do a card with the owl punch ... and here it is!  I chose a vibrant, cheerful color scheme of Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight.  These two colors coordinate perfectly with the Play Date designer series papers!

The "thinking of you" sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Be sure to call or e-mail me if you would like to sign up for the class or if you have any questions!  You can also sign up online through my Meetup website:  http://www.meetup.com/StampingHut/  If you are new to my classes, take a moment to read through the reviews!  I have a 5 star rating, which I am very proud of.

My Digital Studio Project

I know I mostly write about my weekly card making classes ... but did you know I also do custom orders for clients?

I used the My Digital Studio software to create the title page shown below.  My client is creating a special memory book for her mother's 60th birthday.  Each guest at the birthday party will write down the reasons why they love her! Some of the younger children will draw pictures.

The last page of the book will have lots of white space so the guests can sign their names.
Of course, there will be some stamping as well!  Each of the pages will be hand stamped with an image from the retired Vintage Labels stamp set.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this example of what you can do with this software!  Here is a photo of the finished book.  I adhered the card stock to the cover using Sticky Strip and tied a knot using some 1-1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon.

Top Note Snowman

Here is a peek at one of the cards we will be making at the next card class on Tuesday, December 14 at 7:00 PM!

Top Note Snowman

Stamps: Peaceful Season (Level 2 Hostess)
Markers: Real Red, Old Olive
Card Stock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie
Punches: 1" Circle (to round the edges of the hat brim), 1/2" Circle (eyes)
Sizzix Big Shot: Top Note Bigz Die
Accessories: Brights Glimmer Brads, Crop-A-Dile (to punch the 3/16" holes for the mouth), White Gel Pen, Paper Snips, Tombow Liquid Multipurpose glue, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Stampin' Dimensionals

To make the carrot nose, I just cut a triangle using my Paper Snips.  (It's too bad we don't have a punch that makes faux carrots!)

Tuesday Night Card Class: December 7, 2010

The first project we will be making is an Easel card.  Watch the short video to see how it works!  The card stands up like an easel and folds flat for mailing.

The paper flower on the card was made using the Scallop Circle punch and the 3/4" Circle punch.  I embossed the center of the circle using the Polka Dot embossing folder and the Sizzix Big Shot.

I have some good news!  The Watercolor Wonder Crayons are finally back in stock so I can start using them again on cards that I demonstrate!  We'll be using the More Mustard crayon along with a Blender Pen to color in the stamped flowers on the Easel Card.

********************************************
The second card we will be making is a slight variation of a card that I made for a demonstrator card swap a few months ago.  (I just changed the designer series paper.)   This card uses the lovely Peaceful Season Hostess stamp set in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  This stamp set cannot be purchased, but it is free with a $300 workshop or individual customer order!

********************************************
The third card was inspired by a make-and-take from the 2010 Stampin' Up! Convention in Salt Lake City!  I used Not Quite Navy and Old Olive Watercolor Wonder Crayons to color directly onto the large floral stamp from the Just Believe stamp set.  Then I *lightly* spritzed the stamp with water to allow the colors to run and blend together before stamping onto Confetti White card stock.   If you use too much water, your stamped image will get blurry.
