Tuesday Night Card Class: May 31, 2011

April showers bring May flowers!  All of the cards from tonight's class have a floral / nature theme.

Mariko brought her Two step bird punch to share with the class.   Thanks Mariko!
The scallop square is from the Scallop Squares Duo Bigz die.  For a different look, I used a 1/16" hole punch on each scallop.  A bow made from Pretty in Pink satin ribbon finishes off the card.

This card has a lovely rose made from 1/4" grosgrain ribbon.  I am looking forward to showing you how to make this rose tonight!

Last but not least - the flower pot card!  Isn't it great that these flowers will never wilt?  This card has a removable insert (see photo below).  Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the flowers to the insert.  Make sure the height of the finished card doesn't not exceed 5-1/2" or else it will not fit in the envelope!

Have a great night, everyone!

Tonight's cards!

Here are the cards from tonight's card class.   See you soon!

This is a tri-fold shutter card!  Start with a piece of 5-1/2" x 12" card stock and score the long side at 2", 4", 8", and 10".  Next, rotate your paper 90 degrees.  Along the long edge, measure in 1-1/2".  Using your paper trimmer or a craft knife, cut slits from the 2" score mark to the 10" score mark.   Repeat this cut on the other long side.

I used Play Date Designer Series Paper and the Beautiful Wings Big Shot die to decorate the card.  The stamp set, Happy Greetings, is from the Summer Mini Catalog.

This card features the Inlaid Embossing technique!  Punch out a few shapes and adhere them to your card stock.  Then run it through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice embossing folder.  This results in a gorgeous quilted effect!  The sentiment is from the Simply Said stamp set and the swirl image is from a holiday stamp set called Season of Joy.  (Don't you just love finding ways to use your holiday sets throughout the year?)

The last card features the Level 2 hostess set from the Summer Mini catalog.  I received this set from Stampin' Up! as a gift for my recruiting efforts!

Here are a few more ideas for using your holiday supplies throughout the year ... the Ornament Punch also doubles as a vase!  Just trim off a bit from the bottom.  And the polka dot paper is from the Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper collection.

I applied some Champagne Glass Glitter to give this card a little sparkle and shine.

Double Embossing Card
This card features the eye catching double embossing technique featured in the June 2011 issue of Stampin' Success.  This is a monthly magazine that is mailed out to all demonstrators!  I combined the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder with Melon Mambo Stampin' Emboss powder and the heat tool.

1.) Ink a brayer with Versamark and roll brayer on the side of the embossing folder with the design pressed in.  Note: this technique works best with embossing folders that have a bold design.
2.) Place your paper face down on the inked side of the embossing folder and run it through the Big Shot.
3.) Remove paper from embossing folder.  Sprinkle the inked side of the paper with embossing powder and set it with the Heat Tool.

Stamps: Butterfly Prints, Happy Greetings (Summer Mini)
Ink: Sahara Sand, Pretty in Pink, Early Espresso, Versamark
Paper: Melon Mambo, Very Vanilla, Wild Wasabi, Newsprint Designer Series Paper
Big Shot: Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder

Tuesday Night Card Class - May 10, 2011

Thanks for Being a Friend Card

I love cards that can be put together in under ten minutes!  The beauty in this card comes from the new Flower Garden embossing folder in the Summer Mini catalog.  After embossing, use a white watercolor crayon on the raised areas to make the flowers stand out against darker color card stock.  Simple, yet striking!

Stamps: Happy Greetings (2011 Summer Mini)
Markers: Cherry Cobbler, River Rock
Paper: River Rock, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
Accessories: White Watercolor Crayon, 3/8" Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon, Scallop Oval Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals
Big Shot: Flower Garden Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (2011 Summer Mini)

Elements of Style Stair Step Card

Do you recognize this card?  This was one of my most favorite designs from 2010.  I've had several requests to do this card again and I finally gave in to the peer pressure!

Embossed aluminum foil looks fabulous on a card!  Adhere the aluminum foil to a scrap piece of card stock so it will not tear when running it through the Big Shot.

Use your Paper Snips to cut out the hummingbird - the sharp pointy tips on these scissors make it easier to cut around detailed images.

Stamps: Elements of Style
Ink: Early Espresso
Markers: Blushing Bride, Regal Rose, Old Olive
Paper: Blushing Bride, Whisper White, Early Espresso
Accessories: Paper Snips, 1/8" Early Espresso Ribbon, Basic Rhinestone Jewels, Stampin' Dimensionals
Punches: 1-1/4" Circle, 1-3/8" Circle, 1-3/4" Scallop Circle, Modern Label, Designer Label
Big Shot: Petals-a-Plenty Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Watermelon Punch Art Card

In addition to making fabulous flowers, the new Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch in the Summer Mini Catalog can also be used to make watermelon seeds!  Use Tombow Multi glue to adhere the seeds to the watermelon slices.

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Sanded
Ink: Whisper White, Real Red, Baja Breeze
Paper: Confetti White, Pear Pizzazz, Baja Breeze, Garden Green, Real Red, Basic Black, Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Stampin' Sponges, Stampin' Dimensionals, Hemp Thread, 1/2" Pear Pizzazz Stitched-Poly ribbon
Punches: Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer (Summer Mini), 2" x 1-3/8" Oval Extra-Large, Itty Bitty Punch Pack
Big Shot: Scallop Squares Duo (Summer Mini)

Last Chance! Sale-A-Bration ends on March 31!

Our annual Sale-A-Bration promotion ends on Thursday, March 31 at 10:50 PM.  Get a FREE limited edition Sale-A-Bration product when you spend $50 on Stampin' Up! merchandise.  There's no limit to the number of free rewards you can earn!

Shop online at http://stampinghut.stampinup.net

Below are a few cards that will hopefully inspire you!

*************************

The first card features the Spotlighting technique.  This technique works best with large, detailed stamps.  It's a fun and easy way to highlight part of your image!  Use a neutral palette for your base layers to allow the colored portion to really stand out.  On this card, I used Sahara Sand, Basic Black, and Very Vanilla.

Anna brought over her Humor in High Heels stamp set and challenged me to create a card with it.  I wanted to do something fun and girly, so I went with the color combination of Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, and Old Olive.

Do you recognize the polka-dotted patterned paper?  It's from the Christmas Jingle collection!  Just because the word Christmas is in the product name doesn't mean you only have to use it during the holidays.

Ruffled Ribbon is a very popular technique with card makers right now.  Some people get out their sewing machines to create the ruffles ... but I do a much simpler version using Sticky Strip adhesive.  I prefer cards that are quick and easy!

Sometimes when I experiment with color I end up with something entirely unexpected!  The last card I am posting today uses Pumpkin Pie, Baja Breeze, and Whisper White card stock.  I normally never would have thought to put blue and orange together ... but I think it looks great on this card!

The stamp sets I used are Dot, Dot, Dot and Punch Bunch.  Both of these sets are FREE rewards during Sale-A-Bration with a qualifying order.

Tuesday Night Card Class: Mar 22 at 7 PM

Below are the cards for tonight's class!  Anna, who is a demonstrator on my team, graciously brought over some stamps for us to use.  Most of these stamp sets are retired and are no longer available for purchase but all of the papers, tools, and inks can still be ordered.

My favorite card this week is definitely the Goofy punch art card!  I used an assortment of our Stampin' Up! punches to create him. A white gel pen was used to draw accents on his eyes and nose.

Please note: Registration for tonight's class is closed.  Hope to see you next time!  Be sure to sign up by Monday at 7 PM to attend the next card class on March 29.  This will be the last card class during our annual Sale-A-Bration promotion.  During Sale-A-Bration, you get a FREE stamp set with every $50 spent (before tax and shipping)!  Click here to learn more!

Tuesday Night Card Class: January 25, 2011

Full Heart Punch Flower

I made this flower using the Full Heart Punch for the petals and the Blossom Petals Punch for the leaves!

To make a petal, punch out a heart and then fold it in half. A Stampin' Dimensional keeps the petal closed, but still allows for a 3D effect.

P.S. Have you noticed how often I am using the Red Glimmer Paper lately? I love it!

Stamps: Upsy Daisy
Ink: Real Red
Card Stock: Pretty in Pink, Very Vanilla
Specialty Paper: Lap of Luxury Designer Series Paper, Red Glimmer Paper
Punches: Full Heart, Blossom Petals, 2" X 1-3/8" Oval, 1" Circle
Accessories: 1/2" Pear Pizzazz Stitched Poly Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Sticky Pages (or you can use Sticky Strip)

Eat Chocolate

Swipe your Crumb Cake ink pad over the raised polka dots for a vintage effect!  A few inches of satin ribbon adds a bit of sheen.

Stamps: Eat Chocolate
Ink: Crumb Cake
Markers: Early Espresso, Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cake
Card Stock: Early Espresso, Rich Razzleberry, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Punches: 2-3/8" Scallop Circle, 1-3/4" Circle
Accessories: 5/8" Early Espresso Satin Ribbon
Sizzix Big Shot: Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Butterfly Card

What do you need to get started with stamping?  A stamp set, two or three ink pads, and card stock!  And when you're ready to take your projects to the next level, step it up with some of our fabulous punches.

Pastel Shimmer

Also, it's not noticeable in the photo, but I distressed and then peeled apart the Cherry Cobbler card stock.  The end result is a tissue-thin layer with a soft texture!

Stamps: Elements of Style
Ink: Black Staz-On, Basic Black
Card Stock: Glossy White, Confetti Cream, Cherry Cobbler, Brushed Gold
Stampin' Pastels: Soft Suede and Early Espresso
Other: Sponge Daubers, Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint

Ink: Not Quite Navy
Card Stock: Not Quite Navy, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Designer Series Paper: Springtime Vintage

December 28, 2010 Card Class Photos

1.) So Many Thanks
This time of year, we all need Thank You cards to send to those who sent us holiday gifts!  This gate fold card was created using a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of Baja Breeze card stock.  Score the long side at 2" and 7-1/2".

2.) Baby Wipe Swipe / Embossed Vellum Card Stock
This card features a couple of different techniques!  First, we'll be using re-inkers and a baby wipe on Glossy card stock to make striped backgrounds.  Then we'll be using the Sizzix Big Shot and the Square Lattice folder to emboss Vellum card stock!

The "With Sympathy" sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  If you don't want to make a sympathy card, I will have other sentiments for you to choose from.  The large floral image from the Upsy Daisy stamp set is suitable for all occasions.

3.) Vintage Valentine
This is my favorite of the three cards we are making because it is clean and simple!  This card features the Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini catalog.  Isn't it great that you can use this paper for other occasions besides Christmas?  Be sure to order a package or two of this lovely paper before the sales period ends on January 3, 2011!

Some simple sponging with Early Espresso ink adds to the vintage look to this card.  The sentiment is from the Word Play stamp set in the Idea Book and Catalog.

January 4, 2011 Card Class Photos

1.) Create a Cupcake
This stamp set and coordinating Build A Cupcake punch are must-haves from the Occasions Mini catalog!  These new products will be available to order on January 4.

 2.) Button, Button
This card features the Button, Button stamp set from the Occasions Mini and can be ordered starting on January 4.   There are 17 stamps in this set and many coordinate beautifully with our circle punches.  The "Thanks a Million" sentiment is from the Word Play stamp set from the current Idea Book & Catalog.

3.) Chocolate
I used a tiny bit of aluminum foil on the chocolate bar! The small heart punch is great for creating quick and easy accent pieces.
