Tuesday Night Card Class: November 30, 2010

For this first card, I wanted to create a design that can be completed in about 5 to 10 minutes (depending on your stamping speed).  The embossing makes it look like you spent forever creating it ... but that's the secret behind using the Big Shot!   I used Baja Breeze, Garden Green, and Real Red as my color combination.

This card features the popular Dasher reindeer stamp (116816, $8.95).  I used the Emboss Resist technique to make the image pop!  This card takes a little more time than the first design, but don't you just love how the pattern of the paper shows through Dasher's body?

Directions:

  1. Use Embossing Buddy on Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper (DSP) to remove static.
  2. Stamp Dasher onto DSP using Versamark ink pad.
  3. Heat emboss using Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool.
  4. Sponge Early Espresso ink all over the DSP.  The clear embossing powder will resist the ink, allowing the printed pattern on the paper to show through.
  5. Use a tissue to wipe off any excess ink from your paper.
  6. Optional: Crumple up the DSP to give a "distressed" look.

The third card we will be making features the Simply Said stamp set.  This set can be purchased separately or as part of a discounted product bundle that is available through our Online Spectacular promotion.  Hurry - this promotion ends on November 30!

Dasher Christmas Card (PPA19 - Inspiration Challenge)

Dasher Christmas Card

Supply List:

  • Stamp Sets: Dasher (116816, $8.95), Holidays & Wishes (retired)
  • Classic Ink: Soft Suede
  • Card Stock: Soft Suede, Kraft, Very Vanilla
  • Petals-A-Plenty Textured Impressions Folder
  • Big Shot Machine
  • Stampin' Dimensionals
This is one of my annual holiday cards!  The embossing from the Petals-A-Plenty folder adds an elegant touch - - without adding a lot of extra work.  (I try to keep my holiday card designs as simple as possible.)  I am making at least 40 of these cards but since I am limited by the amount of Soft Suede card stock I have on hand I'll probably end up having multiple Christmas card designs this year!

Just a heads up: The 12 Days of Holiday Sales promotion begins on Friday!  Demonstrators have not been given advance notice as to what will be on sale; however, Stampin' Up! did say there will be "many never-before-discounted items!" How exciting!

Have a wonderful evening!

Top Note Gift Card Holder

Yesterday, I wrote a tutorial on how to make a card using the Top Note Bigz die.  Today I am sharing my completed card with you.  This card will fit in a Stampin' Up! Medium sized envelope (equivalent to A2).

Top Note Gift Card Holder

I added a little pocket on the inside using another half of a Top Note that I trimmed to fit so that the card would lay flat when closed.  You can use this pocket to tuck a note inside or use it as a gift card holder, as I did.  If you are planning on using the pocket as a gift card holder, use a strong adhesive like Sticky Strip to make sure the gift card won't fall out!

Mmmm ... looking at the Starbucks gift card makes me want to go have a cup of coffee!

Supply List:

Ink: Ruby Red, Close to Cocoa, Old Olive
Card Stock: Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Black Gingham Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals, Modern Label Punch

Need inspiration? Here are 3 Christmas Card Ideas

Don't you just love the color combination of Soft Suede and Old Olive?  The featured stamp sets are Christmas Greetings and Patterned Pines.  Patterned Pines is an exclusive set in the Holiday Mini Catalog that cannot be purchased, but is free for Hostesses or with a $150 order!

The next lovely card is embossed using the Sizzix Big Shot machine and the Petals-A-Plenty embossing folder from the Holiday Mini Catalog! The featured stamp set is Berry Christmas, which is also from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

Last but not least, here is the third and final project of today's post.  This card features the "Dasher" reindeer rubber stamp (Item 116816) from p. 208 of the Idea Book and Catalog.  At just $8.95, Dasher is an affordable option for all of your Holiday cards and projects!  Texture was added to this card using a paper crimper and a tab made of polka-dot ribbon adds just the right amount of color.
