Patterned Party Hinged Card Tutorial

Hello stampers!  Today's little project has a little surprise!  Instead of opening from the side, this hinged card swings up to reveal your message.

Stamps: Patterned Party
Ink: Perfect Plum
Markers: Perfect Plum, Marina Mist, Pumpkin Pie
Paper: Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Polka Dot Parade
Accessories: 3/16" Brads - Brights collection, 1/16" Handheld Circle punch, Stampin' Dimensionals, Scallop Edge Border punch

Start with a Crumb Cake standard card base measuring 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".  To create the top half, adhere a 5/8" x 4-1/4" strip of Designer Series Paper to Marina Mist card stock (4-1/4" x 3").  Stamp your image on Whisper White card stock and layer onto Pumpkin Pie card stock.  Adhere the image to the Marina Mist piece using Stampin' Dimensionals, extending the image about 1/2" below the bottom of the Marina Mist card stock.

To create the bottom half, punch a border along the top of the Perfect Plum card stock (4-1/4" x 3") using the Scallop Edge border punch.  Stamp "Happy Birthday to You" using Perfect Plum ink.

To create the hinge, place the Marina Mist card stock on top of the Crumb Cake card stock, but do not use adhesive!  Next, place the scallop edge of the Perfect Plum card stock over the bottom of the Marina Mist card stock and align with the bottom of the Crumb Cake card stock.  The Perfect Plum and Marina Mist pieces should overlap by about 1/2".  Add adhesive to the bottom and sides of the Perfect Plum card stock and adhere to the Crumb Cake card stock.  Important Note: Do not put adhesive all the way to the top of the Perfect Plum card stock or else the Marina Mist piece will not swing freely!

Last step - Punch a 1/16" hole through all three layers of card stock and attach a Pumpkin Pie brad through the hole.  And that's it!  You're done!  To reveal the space for your message, slide the Marina Mist piece up and to the left.
