Stamping 101: Make Your Own Punch Template

A quick way to identify which stamp sets will work with your punches is to make a punch template. With a punch template, you hold the template over catalog pages to see which shape lines up with which stamp image or phrase. Making a punch template is also a great way to use up your scraps!

To create a punch template, use 3x3 pieces of card stock vellum or plain card stock. You'll need one piece for each punch in your collection. Simply punch each shape from your collection and keep the negative. Label each negative with the corresponding punch name. You may choose to punch a hole in the corner of each template and thread them onto a key ring to keep them all in one place. You may also choose to laminate your template after you have punched out a full sheet of shapes to make them more durable.
